A great film noir that is very cynical. Kirk Douglas is great as Chuck Tatum, a reporter transported to New Mexico and finds the story of a trapped man in a cave-in. He will do anything to keep the story running as long as possible even if it endangers another person's life. There is beautiful lighting and camera direction in the scenes were Chuck goes into the cave.
