What a great film! Everything I love about film is in here. Superb performances all round the cast. A pretty taught and thrilling story. Many people say the film has little cinematography that is usually generated from a film noir, but I think there is enough to satisfy my needs. Just look how atmospheric the scene is when Dana Andrews goes to the lower floor of a hotel that is dimly lit and finds another detective wiring the telephone calls of Gene Tierney. Terrific writing that is full of banter from each character especially Clifton Webb's. This has become my second favorite film noir, besides the Maltese Falcon.

I am not sure what to rate this gem of a film noir. I know I like it, but I just wasn't fully attentive while watching the film to give it a fair rating.
